Yesterday was a busy day, but in an unexpected way. We had a big list of activites to accomplish. I wanted to paint the final part of our bedroom and cut the grass. Donna helped me by taking the girls on several errands, including stopping at the bank, post office, grocery store, Office Depot, a teacher supply store, and a grocery store.
Everything was going fine until, over the din of the lawn mower, I heard a faint honk that was just enough to get my attention to see that Donna had pulled up into the driveway. I turned off the mower and came over to the car, which was still running.
She told me how her battery died at the bank drive-through. She had turned the car off while she was waiting in line, and then it wouldn't start up again. After blocking that drive-through aisle and and one unsuccessful jump, she got the car pushed back a ways and borrowed someone's cell phone to call AAA. They were there quickly and got the car running again.
So I followed them to a nearby automotive shop and dropped the car off. The shop was near our house and conveniently close to an Office Depot, Teachers' Heaven (a wonderful teacher supply store), and Cici's pizza. We did some shopping, had lunch, and walked back over to the automotive center. By then, the car was almost finished. I took the girls back with me (in my non-airconditioned car), and Donna followed shortly thereafter.
I felt a sense of accomplishment after all of that. Despite the car trouble, we got a lot of things done and got the car fixed, all with a pair of three-year olds in tow. We celebrated by using our new pool noodles (bought that day at the Dollar Tree next to Office Depot) at the neighborhood pool.
