The drive took us about 1 hour and 15 minutes, but it was pretty easy. We discovered once we got there that there were no available wheelchairs and a mile of walking, so Mom decided to stay at the gift shop and Spouting Horn across the street. Our tour started on a tram, whose most notable stop before arriving at the park was overlooking a gorgeous private cove owned by the Allerton family. It was breathtaking! The tour itself was quite interesting. Our interpreter, Jerry, was a knowledgeable botanist and was able to tell us the history and properties of many of the plants there. Among the varied, natural plants were manicured, designed pools, gardens, and pathways designed by Robert Allerton. The walking did get tiring, but the many flowering plants were beautiful. We met back up with Mom to all go over to Spouting Horn, a hole in the shore rocks that produced a geyser with most waves, and visit the craft tents there. After making a wrong turn heading back to Hanalei, we stopped to eat in Poipu Beach. We also stopped at Hilo Hatties (for souvenirs and gifts), Snorkel Bob's (to rent snorkel equipment), and Foodland (to get groceries) before arriving at our condo and having a low-key dinner.
