D07: Waterfall at Hanalei

DP01: Hanalei Bay Resort Pool
More rain this morning dissuaded us from trying a hike at Na Pali, so our early rising just allowed us to have an early go at snorkeling. We first ate breakfast at Bali Hai, where the rains gave way to a beautiful rainbow among the mountains (the one time I didn't have the camera with me).

Deciding what to do with our day wasn't easy. Mom was enjoying relaxing back at the room, but if it was rainy, we might want to make a Waimea Canyon day. It started clearing, though, so we made it a lazy day of snorkeling, sunning, and napping.

After Donna practiced snorkeling in the small pool, she, Rebecca, and Rob went down to the beach to do it for real. It took a few minutes to get the hang of it, but soon we were all floating along the top of the water looking for fish. Our spot didn't have a huge number of fish, but we all saw several, including Tang, Butterfly fish, and maybe a goatfish. But even when there weren't fish to see, it was fun just gliding above the coral, visiting that underwater world for a few minutes.

After 45 minutes of snorkeling, we went to lunch at Happy Talk lounge while Rebecca laid out by the pool. We came back to the rooms with the idea of snorkeling some more, but took naps instead.

We went out to dinner in "downtown" Hanalei, a quaint little beach town that we're looking forward to wandering through again. We made reservations at what we thought was "Cafe Luna," but upon arrival we realized it is now "Bamboo Bamboo," which luckily retained the same phone number and sat us down to a nice meal of pasta (Donna had Ahi).
