H04: Rainbow at Hanalei Bay

H13: Rob at Tunnels beach
Our last full day in Kauai, which was to be spent relaxing and catching up on whatever activity we wanted.

Our free breakfast was spent among light showers and several intermittent rainbows over Hanalei Bay. We called Dee-Dee from our breakfast table.

After breakfast, we started our favorite Kauai activities: Mom rested and read up on our next island, Rebecca tried to find a break in the clouds and showers to sunbathe, and Rob and Donna waited for a warm time to snorkel.

The snorkeling was at Tunnels beach - unmarked save for several dozen cars parked along the road (on the way to Kee beach). We spent about 1 and 1/2 wonderful hours snorkeling on the large reef in calm, clear waters. It was arguably even better than Lawai beach! A varied reef area was interesting in itself, but fish abounded. We stopped for the day just as the showers reappeared.

Rob and Donna stopped at "Hanalei Mixed Plate" for a quick lunch and got some genuine Kauai "Red Earth" T-shirts before heading back to the condo. Rebecca and Mom, meanwhile, were having a fun hula lesson. Mom got a reed bracelet and later a flower lei for being such an appreciative student.

That evening, after some packing and laundry, we went to the vegetarian "Postcards cafe" (Hanalei restaurant #6) and all has some nice and different meals, served by our waitress from Münich and accompanied by the resident cat.

We're all ready now for the next day of our trip...
