O10: Sea Turtle
at Kona Village

P03: Waikiki sunset
Today's mission was to get as much out of our Kona Village stay as possible before leaving at 2:30.

After our 8:00 breakfast (buffet style this time), we all went for a short morning snorkel at the secret black sand beach. Even Mom got to snorkel; as anticipated, the fish performed well for us this morning. The remainder of the morning was spent showering and getting all packed.

The friendly cart came by right at noon and loaded all of our bags (Donna and mine in the car, the rest in the holding area for the hotel shuttle). We strolled up the beach one last time (we saw some sea turtles and a moray eel!) before having a buffet lunch. We took our time, since we weren't leaving until 2:30. After we were finished, Donna learned how to make leis while the rest of us found some shade on the beach and relaxed.

The trip to the airport and the Oahu was uneventful. To make luggage packing easier, Mom and Rebecca took the hotel shuttle, while Donna and I returned the car. The flight was delayed 20 minutes, but that wasn't a problem. The "Alani" van arrived a scant 3 minutes after I called, so we got the the Waikiki Parc hotel in fine shape.

What a nice place! We were upgraded to ocean-front rooms on the top floor (23rd) at no extra charge! We then found fruit trays in our refrigerators, compliments of the hotel manager, just because we're staying here. The rooms have a nice view of the ocean and are well thought-out (and they have Air Conditioning!).

A casual dinner at the restaurant across the street was the final act of the day before heading to bed.
