The bus that took us to the interior of the National Tropical Botanical Gardens stopped at the private cove of the Allerton family. It looked like a slice of paradise with a lazy stream emptying into a secluded, sandy beach. The property has been flooded several times, though, since it is low and vulnerable to the hurricanes that ocassionally hit Hawaii.
