My G3's Cable Modem

The Houston Road Runner page has a timing page that loads up a huge graphic file and then times how long it takes to load. The idea is that you can see how fast your new cable modem is (under ideal circumstances, sine it times the doanload speed, not "surfing the web" speed). I tried that page out three times: once at home pre-cable modem, once at work, and once at home post-cable modem. The results are posted here.

Home Phone Modem
AOL, 28.8 connection speed Control (1x)
Work
unknown connection details 6.6x
Home Cable Modem
Road Runner - NOT YET 61.4x

So the download speeds are over 60x times what I used to have. That plus 24x7 access without tying up my phone line? Oh yes, I like Road Runner.
