This cookie is an old fashioned spice cookie. I think they taste like Christmas.
Combine dry ingredients in a small bowl. In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and brown sugar. Add egg and beat well. Stir in molasses. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Chill the dough an hour or overnight. Roll into walnut sized balls. Dip tops in sugar and place on a greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle top of cookie with water. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375°F.
