Ingredients
- 1 8-oz. package reduced-fat cream cheese (Neufchatel)
- 1 4-oz. package crumbles garlic-and-herb feta cheese
- 1 Tbsp. milk
- Several dashes freshly ground pepper
- Fresh figs, halved (optional)
- Lemon leaves (optional)
- Assorted snipped fresh herbs and/or herb sprigs (optional)
Directions
In a small mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, feta cheese, milk, and freshly ground pepper. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until mixture is well combined and of desired consistency.
Line a 1.5-cup mold or bowl with plastic wrap. Spoon cheese mixture into mold; evenly spread in mold, removing any air bubbles. Cover the top with plastic wrap and chill until ready to serve, up to 3 days.
To serve, unwrap and invert molded cheese mixture onto serving platter. Carefully remove plastic wrap. Surround molded cheese with halved fresh figs and lemon leaves. Garnish with snipped herbs and/or fresh herb sprigs, if desired. Makes 15 to 20 appetizer servings.
My Experience
OK, I haven't ever made this one myself, either, but this is my favorite horsdourves my wife makes. It is very, very tasty. We've never bothered with the figs or lemon leaves - sprigs of fresh dill around the base look great by themselves.
