Ghosts in the Graveyard
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups cold milk
- 2 packages (4-serving size) Jell-o® chocolate flavor Instant Pudding and Pie Filling
- 1 tub (12 oz.) Cool Whip® whipped topping, thawed
- 1 package (16 oz.) chocolate sandwich cookies (Oreo®), crumbled
Directions
Pour cold milk into large bowl. Add pudding mixes. Beat with wire whisk for 2 minutes. Stir in 3 cups of the whipped topping and 1/2 of the cookies. Spoon into a 13x9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle with the remaining cookies.
Refrigerate for 1 hour or until ready to serve. Store dessert in refigerator. Makes 15 servings.
Decorate with Pepperidge Farm Milano® cookies (tombstones), candy, and remining whipped topping dropped by spoonfuls (ghosts).
My Experience
I make this dessert every Halloween. It makes a great dish to take to parties (but I make it even if we're staying home).
Some decorating hints:
- The ghosts can be formed with a spoon only with great difficulty; to get perfect ghosts, use a cake decorating kit to squirt the Cool Whip® onto the top.
- Bits of crumbled cookies scavenged from the top can be used for the ghosts' eyes.
- The "official" picture has the pumpkin-shaped candy corn-type candies on top, to represent real pumpkins rather than meaningless, but tasty, standard candy corn pieces that I always use.
